FLOWRx Tote2Spoke Dispensing Solution

Our Tote2Spoke(TM) solution allows you to work in partnership with a wholesaler or warehouse. They have the capability to batch pick medication on your behalf and deliver it back to your store in patient specifc FLOW Totes.

The innovative software allows you to scan, label, and sort medications directly from the Flow Tote into patient specific baskets with no need to unpack onto shelves. Exceptions that are not received from the wholesaler or warehouse such as fridge items or controlled drugs can be added to the tote prior to labelling or later added to a patient basket before bagging.

The process starts at the pharmacy where orders are processed on the pharmacy PMR. The clinical and accuracy check is done up front by the pharmacist before the order is placed with the wholesaler/warehouse. The warehouse/wholesaler receives the order and batch picks the medication in patient specific FLOW Totes containing lose medication for up to 30 prescriptions which is delivered back to store.

Back in store the barcode on the FLOW Tote is scanned to display all drugs in that tote and anything that needs picked locally (eg. fridge items). A pick list allows you to pick all local adds at once and add them to the FLOW Tote.

Take a medication pack from the tote and scan the barcode. The software prompts you to select a basket and associates it to the patient needing the medication. Scan the pack to print a patient label and place the labelled pack in the relevant patient basket. Continue scanning all remaining packs in the FLOW Tote.

Once a patient basket has all the required medication you will be alerted by the software. You can then scan the basket barcode to print the bag label and bag the medication ready to be dispensed.

Occasionally a patient order may require a double check by a pharmacist (for example if the medication has a short expiry date). The software places the patient basket with the medication requiring the additional check in quarantine. To clear it, the pharmacist scans the basket, scans the medication and reviews the reason for quarantine before clearing the medication for packing once they are satisfied.
